Server Rules

Here are some Server Rules which the players should respect.
These rules are created because of several player complaints about the behaviour of other players.

NOTE:
The rules can never specify every word, phrase, behavior, etc. exactly.
You should use your common sense to recognize for example that racism in chat is "Rude Languge" and so on.

Playing music is mic spamming

Playing music on vocal chat is regarded as mic spamming and is not allowed.
Players doing so will be warned and then banned.

Heavy usage of vocalizer

You should not use the vocalizer too much.
It is annoying to hear the surviors talking all the time.
And often about boats or other stuff which is not true in that situation.
Even worse is hearing things like "Hunter got me" from behind.
You stop, turn around and run back to help just to see no hunter at all.
Several players already reported heavy vocalizer usage and that this is ruining the gameplay.
So the vocalizer should only be used moderatly and when the situation is appropriate.

Use English in chat and vocal chat


The games vocal chat should be used only for game communication.
Not for talking about everything else in some other language than english.
It is very annoying to listen to some foreign language constantly.
For example:
10 players on the server and 2 players are talking all the time in their own language about god and the world or whatever.
So use english in vocal chat for game relevant communication: Smoker got me, heeeeeeelp!

The same applies to the game chat too.
Use English primarily (some short non-english dialog is ok but no extended discussion).
If you want to chat about god and the world etc., use the forum chat, steam chat, facebook chat or whatever.
The servers are for game play and they are no chat platform.

Sprays

Inappropriate sprays (like porn, racism, ... and other offending shit) is not allowed.

Camping

Camping somewhere in the map for e.g. getting more points or rank or whatever is not allowed.
The players in the safe house get bored because they have to wait for the campers.
You should try to stick together somehow.
That often means, that the slower players have to hurry up a little.
Especially on higher difficulty you should not camp too long anyway.
So a good balance between rush and wait for others is essential here.

Points farming

Points or rank points farming e.g. by camping somewhere is not allowed.
Also any means of exploiting weaknesses of any plugin is not allowed.

Rude language in chat

Be polite in the chat.
Rude language in the chat will not be tolerated anymore.
Too many rude words in the chat will result in ban.
See section "Sprays" for a list of samples what is not allowed.

Coop gameplay

Help each other.
Don't kill or hurt your team.
Don't bile your team.
Don't leave new players behind.
Try to help them if it is possible.
Teach them to stay in the group.

Report break of Server Rules

Report any break of the server rules.
If reports cumulate, the rules breaker will get a ban.

Ban in SourceBans and in Forum

If you get banned in SourceBans, you may also get banned in the forum for the same period of time. Use Protest a Ban on SourceBans if you want to protest your ban.
Important: check your SPAM folder. Our answer may land there.

Player names

You have to use a proper player name.
Any stupid garbage name will not be accepted.
We like to know with whom we play.

Threaten players

Do not threaten other players for your own purpose like winning a vote. e.g:
"Do this or I'll kick you"
"Press F1 or I'll ban you"
It is simply not nice to threaten others.
Only admins may warn player like this when the players are acting against any rules.

Advertise other servers

Do not advertise other servers like:
"Come on lets connect to this server IP:PORT"
This is a common rule on many servers so it should be a rule here too.

Vote abuse

Abusing votekick or any other votes for your own purpose or fun is not allowed.

Continuous Reconnect


Continuously reconnecting to e.g. get your dead character alive again is not allowed and may result in a ban.
If you die in game, stay dead and wait till someone defibs you.
This is how the game is meant to be played.
If you would reconnect all the time, defibs would be totally useless.
Teamplay would no longer be necessary because everybody could revive himself by reconnecting.
If I would find a good plugin to prevent these intentional continuous reconnects I would install it. But I think there is non which would handle all the possible accidental reconnects (when timeout, crash etc) properly.

We are just trying to make the gameplay most enjoyable for all and not just for some.

But i still can use mic to communicate, right?

If you are not singing all the time^^
Then yes.
Only if the radio does not stop I'll have to disable the voice chat completely.
Then no voice at all would be possible anymore.
Let's hope that they listen and stop that radio shit.

Why dont we just !votekick the sound spammers?
There is always a way to ban the wave flooders, no need for for suck radical changes  

Because some like to listen and won't kick the dj.
But it nevertheless steals bandwidth and CPU power of the server.
And I don't like to pay money for those playing DJ on my server.

Once on alServ2019 we were playing death toll and one lonely "DJ" started music in voice chat, shortly a votekick started and the disturber was gone, never knew the name.
Another one wasn't DJ-ing at all, he was cursing everithing and everyone, after that, the kick vote started, intruder never came back, or if did, started playing peacefully.

All im trying to say is that on alServ we have a pretty tight that used to play here before, the loyal people that like the community and atmosphere of the servers and will not tolerate such behavior from people that ruins the afterwork gameplay and teamwork.

If it would always work the way you described.
Like I said disabling the voice chat is the last option if everything else failed.

It happened once on the L4D server alServ2015, since then no other "DJ" popped in to mic spam the server.

Can we get the Frags Radio plugin? I just love their type of music.
I mean it won't annoy anyone because they can only hear it when they want to.

Over and over again I say that any vocal chat costs bandwidth and CPU cycles.
And now I should install a radio plugin?
Never.
Use winamp or whatever on your PC if you like to listen to radio.

Again Mic spamming, same player as always, you already know about who I´m talking. Player asking others if he can play music 2013-10-27 22:54:19.

Because this mic spamming from same player, last time a few days ago, I coincided playing in same game session, I decided turn off voice mic in my game option because sound in game is reduced drastically and I cannot hear the zombies when someone use Mic to chatting.

I´ll try to turn on the option again from time to time, if I suspect that someone is keep doing

Vocalizer spammer got a 1 week ban now.
There will be no further discussion just actions.

I don't like bugusing or exploiting weaknesses.
For example:
A custom map developer easily spends several 100 hours in creating a custom campaign.
Then the players don't play the campain as the developer planed it.
They take shortcuts, they exploit weak spots which zombies can't reach.
etc
All this really ruins the fun of the campaign.
For me it is annoying to play a campaign that way.
In some campaigns really huge shortcuts ruin the challange completely.
One player takes the shortcut and stays in the safe house. Other players don't matter anymore because the map is won by this exploit.
Same for exploiting plugins.
Several hours spent to write a plugin to enable players to give others some points.
That is good if others join later so that they get some points.
Or if someone is dead the others could accumulate points to defib him etc.
But then others have the idea to exploit the plugins (pg2, stop infection, ...)
This is really annoying.
Sometimes plugins could be adjusted to prevent these exploits.
But it costs huge amount of time.
Sometimes restricting plugins just bring other problems.
So if you ask me:
I really don't like any exploits.
Exploits should not be allowed.
But sadly there is no clear strict line to draw.
Is it an exploit to climb on lamps or on cars etc which zombies cannot reach?
Does this change the intended way a campaign should be played as team?
Sure that for example our plugins make the game harder.
So using exploits may be tolerated a little in order to finish the map/campaign?
We spent several hours to adjust plugins for many campaigns so that the campaign is playable with an average team.

This is cheating like autofire or things like that in other games.
Even if it is not automatic.
It is exploiting/bugusing to use some key combinations which results in some uninteded game behaviour.

Sure this is not allowed.
Why should any of your others accounts be still welcome if one account is banned for some reason?

Addons like "Red Specials" (mentioned in another post here recently) is cheating too.
Addons like "Improved Blood Textures" not. They even can make it harder to spot things in all the blood around :-)

I could try to enforce original game files only.
Which would/could lead to the case that legal addons will not work anymore too.

It is really annoying having to spend time to make the life of cheaters harder.
