Game Server Admins

Here you can find the list of admins on our game servers:
Game Server Admins  (see Usergroup "* Game Server Admins *")
The names are the forum user names.
The admins should add their current in-game nickname to the forum user profile mood or comment if they use a different name in forum and in game.

General rules for admins

Here are the golden rules for admins (o.k. the red rules^^)
Obey to them or loose your admin powers.

We started without any rules and only very few admins.
No rules were needed.
But now it seems that the admin powers are abused more and more.
I know many situations may not be so clear.
But please think before you act.

1) Never change the map with admin commands when players are on the server

We had an incident with 9 players playing on alServ2019.
Some admin and one other player agreed to play a custom map.
The admin said to the players that they should download the custom map.
No other player said something in the chat about the upcoming map change.
The admin changed the map to a custom map with admin command.

On the custom map then only the admin and the other player played for about 10 minutes.
Then another admin changed back to the previous map (which is ok in this case).
And a little later all 9 players were back on the standard map.

So NEVER change a map when other players are connected.
Use !votemap instead.
Then every player can give his statement about the map change.
Asking in chat does not help.

So please send me a PM if you see any other "strange admin stuff"

I just want to describe the problem here quickly so that it won't happen again.
I spoke with the guys and I think it is ok for now if it never happens this way.

2) Use ban and kick only if it absolutely neccessary

Never ban or kick a player just because he hit you or others by accident.
There is a team attack counter which will take care about that too.
Banning and kicking should only be used when players are hurting or killing others intentionally.
You should also have a look first, which player you are about to ban.
Look in HLstatsX for the player history.
Recently a player who played here for a long time got banned.
I don't think he was doing something evil after spending so many hours here.

Only ban someone because of mic spamming when he is doing it intentionally or he is not listening to close his accidental open mic.
You can mute or gag the player instead or just kick him if it is too anoying to mute him in each map again and again.
I don't know if a "sticky" mute is possible somehow.

3) Never use admin powers to kick tanks or special infected

You should never kick any infected just because you think the situation is to hard to handle at this moment.
This already was done at least twice by one admin.
If this happens again, admin powers are gone.
So think about before doing that again.

4) Never use admin powers for stupid "funny" things

So don't use beacon etc. on players just because you can.
That is not what it is for.
It's ok when you want to test the admin panel to see what is possible.
But test it on players you know and ask them before.

5) Never get into discussions using bad words

No admin should ever get into a discussion using very bad words.
No matter for what reason.
If the discussion starts to escaplate, keep calm and e.g. add a little ban so that all the others (and other admins) can see the bad behavior of the other guy.
An admin using such bad words and swearing against any other will lose his admin powers.
This chapter has been added because of a recent chat discussion between one admin and one player.

6) Report certain admin power usage

If you had to use admin powers to solve a problem report that to the players on server so that they don't wonder what is going on.
Then report that to me, so that I could fix possible bugs which caused that problem.
Examples:

• You had to use noclip on players because they were stuck somewhere.
  
• You had to slay/kick a tank because he was stuck somewhere and the game did not continue.
  
• Anything else that feels like a bug or glitch or something like that.

personally I am hate mic and chat spammers! i'd like to personally meet a monster and wind the cable from the microphone to his throat and hang him!
if there have only spinal cord and he can not understand the calling of the administrator or any player!
if there suffering from Alzheimer's and can not read chat,
does not respond, then will be banned! this is his personal problem with the broken microphone with a meanness, a cheats, and other...
shit in public places is prohibited! BAN BAN BAN!

I'm not the first year administrating different servers, including the game, I know what I'm talking about!

tougher and more cruel than I am the administrators on the planet is not be!

Added the chapter 5 in the first post.
This chapter has been added because of a recent chat discussion between one admin and one player.

Permanet Ban is only the very last option, for Cheaters the first of course.

Other stuff should be done with kick or ban for a day.

To specify in details the role of admins is important, it's not a full time job for sure, just a kind of benevolent eye on our game field, but it requires to be aware of the absolute necessity to be here to avoid any risks of mess, not the contrary.

The fate of the world is not in danger (yes, maybe... But for other reasons), but admins gotta be reliable, benevolent and entertaining for that place where we all spend and expect to spend good moments...

alBert did a so meticulous, time consuming work on that "dream server", we gotta respect that for all the fun it brings to us all.

Recent event made the update the admin rules.

I have renamed the topic "General rules of admins" to "Game Server Admins".
I have added a link in this topic to show a list of server admins.
The list is a group of forum users: * Game Server Admins *
I will add all game server admins to that forum group soon.
If someone is missing, please tell me.

Like I said names doesnt matter.
Situation has been clarified, admin rules have been updated, they are back in business again.
