Root server broken somehow

The root server seems to be broken somehow.
Not sure what the problem is.
I cannot reach the root server anymore normally.
With some kind of recovery console from the server provider I can reach it.
But I no no idea what the problem is at the moment.

After 5 hours of investigation it seems that the network card is broken.
From previously 2 MAC adresses only one is present.
And the one which is gone was the important one.
Don't know what the second one is good for.
I tried to configure the second one but I cannot get it running.
The DHCP also does not assign my IP to that MAC address.
So I can only connect via a serial console to the server.
The only network device is the loopback device.
So I cannot copy anything from or to the server.
I wrote an Email to the provider.
I hope they would agreed to change the network card.
If you remember they did not change the HDD.
So maybe they won't change the card too.
So the only option would be to get a totally new server and setup everything from scratch with some of the backups (sadly not all backups are completely up to date)
And that would cost several hours manual work.
And I'm not sure when I could do all that work.

They must provide what you pay for.

You pay for a server and X hardware, so if hardware "HDD or network card" gets defective they must to change them, that´s a basic technical support they must to provide.

That is the contract what you pay for, X server X configuration X hardware...

No HDD, no network card, you can´t use the server, so.. why pay for it?

They don't want to exchange certain parts of the server.
They will simply give me a new empty server with new hardware and the same IP as the old server.
That is not the problem.

But then I would have to install everything from scratch again.

If they would change the networkcard only, I could get the server running again in some minutes.
But my feeling is, that they will answer the same again:
"Sorry, no exchange of some parts. You can have a new server but you will have to install everything again."

Without the second RAID HDD the server was running just fine.
So I did not let them exchange the server.
But without a working network card the server is not usable anymore.

in Deutschland service support is better, they give u all new, but in this situation this is problem. I work in corporation where we got electronic service.
Customer report problem ( provider) , hardware seller pick up piece of equipment, went to service, and examine what reely is happend, how much is cost of repair etc.
In time period far customer may get a other server to use, in our situation not good.
Well, u will se what will hapend.
Cross fingers, before couple mins, Killo, me and other 5-6 alserv players play on other public server.
Bad configuration, Teamkiller mic spam trolls, tottaly like i read in steam discussions why some people hate L4D2 or public servers.

new server for albert, old server for me, shoot down provider... all happy!

This is a very unfortunate situation  
As myljach said, i joined another L4D2 server with a friend, this afternoon but it's not the same for sure (in a bad way). For me L4D2 and Alservers are the same, so i hope that things will go back to normal, sooner or later....
Albert please inform us as soon as you hear from the provider

First answer received from the provider.
They say that it is a mainboard defect and that they will exchange the whole server.
I asked them right now again if they could get the seconds network card going at least for backing up some stuff to the internal FTP backup space.
That would make the restore easier.

Otherwise it is the worst case.
A blank new server where I would have to start from scratch (with at least some backup data).

I forgot say, when we all from alserv play on some other server from Finland, a joined is a girl teamkiller using mic.
About 1 hour, we play vith she. All time: mic spam, animal noises ( meow meow) and teamkilling us.
1st time she incap 4 players, and to prevent, we must do same to her. That repeat all campaign. So we keep her in toilet spawn room, to not doo dammage to noone.
After was join more 2 teamkillers and we got a party...

Difference was like u went from 5 stars hotel into some shithole motel.

Best solution for this situation will be if provider transfer all data for U like customer, to other physical machine. Or copy paste files, or move physical drive to another machine, if they got technitian who got skills to do/willing do that.

People get right to have impairment account, and you may say instead of impairment account, u want to provider transfer data and help in process from one machine to other.

All day i got same brain like Tron... Feel white and fluffy... And allmost got idea to rent one server for 8 bucks one month and call it alserv spare, like place to play in waiting to alserv recovered...

u got another option for paypal, name is - prepaid bank card, anyone may buy it anywhere, and use it for making account of paypal.

remember: you are not alone, you got your admin team. Only need to assign job, what only you can do, and what to give others like task

If they're gonna let all your data get lost when a hardware fault (THEIR responsibility ) on their servers causes what you're renting to go kaput, I think you'd better find a new host. Are they even compensating you?
