HLstatsX avatars missing for Steam players

I'm posting this for archival purposes and also for reference in case this occurs again in the future. I already informed alBert2000 about this.

Avatars are not appearing on the player profile pages for all players. Non-Steam players always have this avatar, but players with Steam accounts should see the avatar they have associated with their Steam account.

It seems that steam has changed the player profile page to SSL now.
A quick fix did not work even it was reported to here:

I'll need to test a little bit when I find some more time.

they made some privacy updates of profiles

I think I managed to fix it.
Steam avatars should be visible again in HLstatsX
